Neo-Underground Railroad Conductors

The RE-Generation Tour will bring the Neo-Underground Railroad Conductors (NURC) to people on the U.S. East Coast along with a select group of artists carrying the mission of RE-Newal, RE-Dedication, RE-Education, and RE-Unification. The goal of the RE-Generation Tour and NURC is the real emancipation of our generation. Behind every movement, there has always existed a culture of music, dress, and artwork. The tour will include spoken word poetry, singing, hip-hop, gospel, r&b, and many other artforms that are positive, conscious, and uplifting.

NURC will visit campuses and neighborhoods with a group of travelling artists (our “And 1″ team). We will engage the local communities before each performance, to get cultural community involvement. The involvement of local communities will be vital to this tour. In conjunction with the RE-Generation Tour shows, we will host “Real Talk” sessions with community leaders and local residents. Everyone is welcome to join our “Real Talk” sessions! Once we have developed ideas for action through dialogue, the next step of the tour may involve “Real Walk” sessions, where community service and education are the main focus.

(UPDATE:) The opening weekend for the tour is no longer September 15-16th. We are pushing the opening date back about eight weeks. The tour will still begin at James Madison University. A list of dates and times will soon be available. Get Ready Beautiful People!

Five-Point Plan for JMU “Real Talk Session”

1. Promote awareness of the issues facing Harrisonburg youth
(gangs, drugs, etc.)

2. Promote awareness of resources, both those of JMU orgs
and within Harrisonburg community.

3. Provide an opportunity for all parties present to network.

4. Provide opportunity to create collective solutions
(combining JMU and Harrisonburg resources) to issues.

5. Get commitment from JMU orgs and Harrisonburg community to take
action with newfound connections and collective solutions.
(e.g. action plan or agree on subsequent meeting time)
